Primary Purpose

Under the executive director's general supervision, manage event bookings for Curtis Culwell Center and promote the venue to prospective clients, promoters, agents, and users for sporting, concert, theatrical, corporate, and other special events.  Assist in the coordination of all aspects of the booking process.

Education Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Entertainment Management, Business Administration, or related field
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of entertainment and event booking in both arena and performing arts venues, including current trends in the live entertainment and sports industry, event risk assessment, identifying market opportunities for events, industry terminology, and contract negotiation
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment
  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in venue sales and booking entertainment/sporting events, national touring acts/content in an arena, theater, convention, center, or multi-purpose venue
  • Minimum of three (3) of those years at a senior level position within a forum
  • Experience in industry involvement with IEBA, Pollstar, or related organizations
  • Experience in project management, formulating of policies and procedures, events planning, booking concerts with National and Independent promoters, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Identity, market to, and secure new and repeat event opportunities and programming (concert, family, sporting, theatrical, corporate, etc.), including building and maintaining promoter and agent relationships in the arena and performing arts entertainment industry.
  2. Assess the marketplace for event potential, negotiate venue contracts, and communicate with supporters and agents throughout the planning and event process.
  3. Administrative oversight of booking calendars for Curtis Culwell Center.
  4. Receives and responds to inquiries promptly, scheduling conference center and arena events.
  5. Responsible for efficient handoff of event details from the contracting phase to the event services manager.
  6. Conducts analytical assessments of potential events and event forecasts to develop effective business practices of yield management further.
  7. Prepare statistics and reports on venue use for upper management.
  8. Serves as a member of the Curtis Culwell Center upper administrative team to develop short- and long-term departmental initiatives and strategies for marketing the venues to promoters/agents/users and booking events.
  9. Represents Curtis Culwell Center to campus and off-campus entities/groups, Intercollegiate Athletics, promoters, talent purveyors, and venue tenants, fostering strong relationships and building a customer base.
  10. Represents the Curtis Culwell Center through active involvement in industry associations and conferences.
  11. Supervisors all aspects of Box Office operations.
  12. Formulates and implements an approved comprehensive sales plan.
  13. Meets specified goals and objectives of the sales plan.
  14. Displays professionalism in dealing with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  15. Approaches problem solving tactfully with directness and integrity.
  16. Exerts a positive influence and works in harmony with associates.
  17. Responds to suggestions for improvement in a positive manner.
