Here are the general instructions for voting with a mail-in ballot:

Applying for a ballot

You can download the application online. It should be returned to your county's early voting clerk or elections office by the deadline.

Apply for a mail ballot

Local election officials must receive your applications by April 20.

Using a ballot

When you are approved, your county should mail you a ballot. Your ballot must be returned in the official carrier envelope. Though most Texas counties must receive completed ballots by Election Day, the U.S. Postal Service recommends that Texans send in ballots as soon as possible.

All mail-in ballots must be postmarked by 7 p.m. on May 2 and received by 5 p.m. on May 4.

See the Dallas County Return Your Mail Ballot page for more instructions.
