Bond 2023 Citizen Bond Steering Committee

The Citizen Bond Steering Committee was a group of community members selected by district staff and the Board of Trustees. The members were tasked with developing a bond proposal for recommendation to the board.
The committee members met for invitation-only work sessions to develop the proposed bond package. See below for recaps of each meeting and related materials.

Jan. 10 Board Special Meeting

The Garland ISD Citizen Bond Steering Committee co-chairs presented the committee recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
Dec. 7 Recap
Meeting #6
Committee members voted on which projects to include in the proposed bond package. Their recommendations were submitted to the Board of Trustees.

Meeting #5
This session had members explore how finances within Garland ISD operate as well as the process of budgeting within our district. Work on prioritizing bond projects continued as members begin to finalize the package they will present to our Board of Trustees.

Meeting #4
During this meeting committee members were provided with details, including potential costs, of possible projects. They were also tasked with viewing video highlights regarding the projects. Their next step is to narrow down the desired projects using the project checklist.
Nov. 12 Facilities tour
Meeting #3
The committee members toured buildings from the Long-range Facilities Master Plan. This tour was essential for the members as they saw the needs of our students and staff and got a better understanding of where the district stands as they began forming a bond package.
