By offering a real school and classroom setting, this facility provides space for essential training opportunities for police and fire department personnel, canine and drone units, school resource officers, and active shooter response teams. Most importantly, it provides joint training between GISD Security employees and law enforcement, which increases collaboration, communication, and collective strength for quickly responding to emergencies.
About the building
The GISD Training Center is located at 1821 Oldgate Lane in Garland. The building originally opened as an elementary school in 1954 and provides the perfect real-world setting for advanced law enforcement rapid response training.

Before submitting your reservation request, review the Security Training Center Calendar for possible available dates. Identify several potential date and time blocks to include when submitting the reservation request form.
Submit a reservation request for the Security Training Center
Once your form is submitted, GISD Security Staff will contact you to confirm your reserved date and time. Allow at least one business day for a response.
After your reservation is finalized, copies of the facility rules, the damage report form and the waiver of liability form will be sent to the provided primary agency contact via email. Important: A waiver of liability form will required for all participants upon arrival at the facility for training.
