The Garland ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to place Proposition A, also known as the Voter Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE), on the Nov. 4, 2025, election ballot.

Garland ISD invites students to "Disconnect to Reconnect", as the district implements HB 1481, a new state law that prohibits the use of personal communication devices by students during the school day.
