


Leadership Garland ISD
The Leadership GISD Program is designed to build a network of informed community leaders by offering insights into the district’s operations and challenges. It aims to strengthen community connections and encourage collaboration to improve student outcomes, empowering participants to become active advocates in education.

The Leadership GISD Program aims to cultivate a network of informed and engaged community leaders. By providing participants with comprehensive insights into the district's operations, challenges, and successes, the program seeks to strengthen community ties and promote collaborative efforts to enhance student outcomes. By implementing the Leadership Garland ISD Program, the district can empower community members to become informed advocates and active participants in shaping the educational landscape.

Who should apply?
Leadership GISD is open to:
- Parents and guardians of GISD students
- GISD alumni
- Local business and civic leaders
- Community members passionate about public education
- PTA/PTO members and school volunteers
- Faith-based and nonprofit organization representatives
No prior experience with GISD is necessary—just a commitment to learning and community involvement.
Program format
The program spans the academic year and includes:
- Six half-day sessions held monthly during school hours
- Campus visits to observe educational programs and initiatives
- Interactive workshops on topics such as district organization, budgeting, curriculum development, student services, and community partnerships
- Networking opportunities with district leaders, educators, and fellow participants
- A graduation ceremony celebrating participants' commitment and learning
Sample session topics
- District Overview & Strategic Goals: Understanding GISD's mission, vision, and priorities
- Educational Programs & Curriculum: Exploring academic offerings and instructional strategies
- Student Support Services: Learning about counseling, special education, and extracurricular activities
- Financial Stewardship: Gaining insights into budgeting, funding sources, and resource allocation
- Community Engagement & Partnerships: Discussing collaboration with families, businesses, and organizations
