As part of our approach to providing an excellent education, we strive to create learning environments that allow all students to feel safe, valued, and supported. To help us achieve this, our leadership and departments follow the Safe and Supportive School Program (SSSP) initiative.

About SSSP

The SSSP is a system meant to encourage positive school climates, beneficial behavior, mental wellness, and physical health. As part of the SSSP, our district collaborates with community, county, and state organizations to develop best practices, as well as prevent, prepare for, and respond to crises. It is made up of the following:

  • Positive Behavior Intervention & Support
  • Counseling Services
  • Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
  • Early Identification & Testing for Special Education
  • Emergency & Crisis Response (ex. Standard Response Protocol)

Our ultimate goal is to make sure students feel safe, seen, heard, and supported. The Safe and Supportive School program is built on:

  • Research and data that is used to track outcomes and guide decisions
  • Regular review of security operations by our safety team
  • Legal experts who ensure compliance
  • Continual communication to keep families informed via social media, district websites, and more

This initiative is part of the Texas Legislature's SB 11 mandate and guided by Texas Education Code 37.115.
