Positive news abounds in this district and GISD Communications is proud to share stories of student and staff success through recognitions at board meetings, online and print articles, and local media outreach. Critical district information, such as emergency school closings, is also generated through GISD Communications. The department serves as the primary contact for media inquiries and manages the district's social media presence.

Other responsibilities include enforcing GISD logo and image standards, creating electronic and print newsletters, producing marketing and awareness campaigns, and coordinating special events such as the Teacher of the Year program and annual retirement banquet.
