GISD Board calls for Nov. Prop A election

If passed, Proposition A is projected to provide about $56 million in additional funds annually for teacher and staff salaries, student programs, specialized education services and safety and security.

Team GISD 2.0 is a volunteer initiative created especially for retired teachers, administrators, and support staff who still have a heart for service and a desire to stay connected to our schools. This program recognizes the tremendous value of your experience, relationships, and insight—and offers a flexible, meaningful way to continue making a difference. Whether you choose to mentor students, support school events, assist staff, or simply lend a helping hand, your contributions can positively impact learning environments across the district. Why it matters

No one understands the heart of our schools better than those who once served them. Team GISD 2.0 gives retired teachers, administrators, and support staff a way to continue their legacy by supporting students, mentoring new educators, and strengthening school culture. The program recognizes the unique value you bring through your time, care, and experience.

Your institutional knowledge, classroom experience and passion for student success provide stability, encouragement, and leadership. Students benefit from your wisdom, while new teachers gain insight and support from those who know the rewards and challenges of education. These connections bridge generations and add depth to the school community.

Participation in Team GISD 2.0 is flexible and meaningful. Whether assisting in the library, reading with students, greeting families, or helping staff, your involvement makes a difference. You set the pace, and we provide the opportunity. It is a way to remain active, stay connected, and give back to the community that meant so much to you throughout your career.

By joining Team GISD 2.0, you are not simply volunteering—you are investing in the future of education while honoring the work that shaped your life. Your continued commitment reminds us all that service does not end with retirement. Instead, it evolves into a powerful act of legacy, leadership, and love for the children and staff of Garland ISD.
