Holdsworth Center partner
Garland ISD is proud to be one of six districts chosen for The Holdsworth Center Partnership, a 5-year journey that will help us grow more strong leaders to help teachers thrive and students succeed.
All programming and support – valued at $6 million over five years – is covered at no cost through the generosity of Holdsworth founder and H-E-B Chairman Charles Butt, along with other philanthropic supporters.
District high schools named nation’s best
U.S. News & World Report recently released its 2021 Best High Schools rankings, and once again, Garland ISD made the list. Five district campuses are among the top 40 percent of nearly 18,000 surveyed schools across the nation.
TEA's Systems of Great Schools Network
As a member of the Texas Education Agency’s System of Great Schools (SGS) Network, our district benefits from executive advisors, workshops, professional development opportunities and support in applying for grants and other financial resources. SGS is committed to a common goal: more students in better schools every year.
EVERFI Champion District
Garland ISD has earned the EVERFI Champion Seal, awarded annually to North American school districts making an exemplary commitment to whole-child education. This recognition acknowledges GISD’s dedication to change in the interest of equity and the well-being of all students.
Multiple awards for financial stewardship
Our history of financial responsibility has been recognized by multiple organizations. Our efforts are being recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), who awarded us a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. We've also earned multiple Transparency Stars by the Texas Comptroller as well as been named a recipient of the ASBO International - Meritorious Budget Award since 2022.
Best Communities for Music Education
GISD was named a 2024 Best Community for Music Education (BCME) by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation. This marks the district’s 15th designation, which recognizes and celebrates the commitment of school administrators, community leaders, teachers and parents who believe in music education and are working to ensure that it is part of a well-rounded education for all children.
Google for Education Reference District
Google for Education Reference Districts are districts that demonstrate excellence and leadership through the innovative use of technology, including the G Suite for Education (formerly known as Google Apps for Education) and Chromebooks, to drive impact and positive learning outcomes. Our district has had the honor of being named a reference district.
