Congratulations

The Classical Center at Brandenburg Middle School is the first campus in Garland ISD to earn recognition as a National Merit School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America (MSA), highlighting its commitment to academic excellence, artistic expression, and community involvement.

Brandenburg Middle School’s Classical Center for Fine Arts combines classical education with fine arts, offering hands-on experiences in gymnastics, dance, classical art, and theater. Brandenburg provides a dynamic environment where students thrive, from exploring various dance styles in a professional studio to showcasing diverse cultural traditions during its annual Multicultural Night.

The school’s dedication to high standards extends across the arts and academics. Brandenburg has been recognized as a Commended Winner of the National Choral Honors Competition, showcasing its exceptional achievements in the arts and excelling in other areas like AVID strategies and community engagement. Its approach integrates classical art history, fostering critical thinking and creativity among students. With strong community partnerships and a focus on outstanding attendance, Brandenburg exemplifies the district’s mission for holistic education.

“The vision of Brandenburg Middle School is to set the standard for excellence in academics, arts, and competition,” said Principal Randy King. “This recognition as a 2025 Magnet Schools of America School of Distinction affirms our progress toward that vision. I’m incredibly thankful for my magnet team, whose determination to apply for this award has resulted in recognition of our commitment to excellence. It is truly humbling to lead such a dedicated school.”

Principal King will accept the National Merit School of Distinction Award on behalf of Brandenburg during the MSA National Conference in Nashville from April 7 to 10, 2025. This recognition celebrates the school's achievements and reinforces the district’s commitment to innovative education by showcasing its transformative impact on students and the community.

The distinction is awarded to magnet schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, promote diversity, provide integrated curriculum, and foster strong family and community partnerships. Schools undergo a rigorous application process and are evaluated by a panel of educators.
