This story includes information adapted from a press release issued by the Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Anne Rojas of North Garland High School has been recognized with the 2025 Yale Educator Award, an honor that celebrates educators who inspire and support students to achieve unmatched levels of excellence.

“I was incredibly honored to receive this award from Yale. It’s a reminder that the work we do as teachers every day has a lasting impact. Knowing that Yale recognizes and values the work I do is deeply rewarding,” said Rojas.

Sponsored by the Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Yale Educator Award recognizes outstanding teachers and counselors from around the world who have profoundly impacted their students’ academic journeys. This year, 302 educators were nominated worldwide, with 87 honored as award recipients.

Rojas earned her nomination from Sarah Nguyen, a recent NGHS graduate, who is entering the Yale Class of 2029. Each nomination was reviewed individually by a committee of Yale admissions officers, who praised recipients for their dedication to guiding students toward success long before they arrive on college campuses. Winners received a congratulatory letter and an engraved desk set.

“I’ve always known that Sarah was an exceptional student, and I was fortunate to be her teacher throughout much of her high school career, both in Algebra and AVID. In AVID, we talk about the importance of telling your story, and Sarah did that when she applied to Yale. In nominating me, she shared part of my story as her teacher. I firmly believe that AVID changes lives, and this nomination is a powerful reminder of that truth. Teaching can be incredibly challenging, and moments like this remind me why I love what I do,” said Rojas.

“We are thrilled to see Anne honored in this way,” said NGHS principal John Fishpaw. “She exemplifies what it means to inspire and support students, and she consistently demonstrates a commitment to helping them reach their fullest potential. We wholeheartedly agree with the Yale committee’s assessment. Anne is an exceptional educator who truly deserves this recognition.”

Throughout her career, Rojas has fostered an environment where students feel supported and challenged to reach their highest potential. She encourages curiosity, creativity, and perseverance in every student.

“My goal is to help every one of my students recognize what’s possible for them. This school year, I want to continue pushing my students in the same way, helping them see beyond their own doubts and discover opportunities they never thought possible,” said Rojas.

The Yale Educator Award highlights the critical influence educators have in shaping students’ futures and the unmatched impact of those who go above and beyond. The Yale Admissions Office credits educators like the recipients of the 2025 Yale Educator Award for the exceptional quality of its student body, as they shape students long before they arrive on campus.
