If approved, Proposition A is projected to provide $6.6 million in additional operational revenue that could be used for the recruitment and retention of armed security officers.
Safety and security
- The State of Texas allocates $46.56 per student to GISD for safety and security expenses.
- Based on current staffing and program costs, the district estimates a cost of $259.94 per student for safety and security, creating a local funding gap of approximately $11 million.
- Additional funding from Proposition A could be used to help maintain staffing for an armed security officer at every campus.
