Due to the forecasted severe weather and unsafe road conditions, all GISD schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, January 9, and Friday, January 10, 2025. All GISD after-school activities scheduled for those days are also canceled. See the Weather Procedures page for more details.

Omega Phi Beta Foundation (OPBF) is a national philanthropic organization committed to providing leadership, academic, and community development opportunities through educational and grant-making initiatives. These initiatives support individuals and organizations dedicated to advancing women’s rights in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math) and supporting Mothers continuing their education.

The monetary donations we receive will fund 3 scholarships available to women in the United States pursuing an education & career.

Eligibility Requirements

The Omega Phi Beta Foundation Rising Bud Scholarship is awarded to a High School/College Freshman looking to pursue an undergraduate degree in the ART fields listed below. Our goal is to help lower the financial burden of tuition and encourage girls to expand their creative abilities.

Studies for consideration include:

  • Applied Arts (Creative Literature/Writing, Decorative Art, Design, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Industrial Design)
  • Cinematic Arts (Animation, Audio/Sound, Film-Making)
  • Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Step, Theater)
  • Visual Arts (Animation, Architecture, Audio/Sound, Ceramics, Computer Art, Crafts, Design, Drawing, Film-making, Illustration, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Video, Visual Communications)
