


Scholarship for First-Year Students at Texas A&M University- Commerce
The Texas A&M University- Commerce First-Year Leadership Scholarship priority application deadline is approaching on March 15th! This Freshman Leadership Course (FLC) offers first-year students a total of $4,000 ($2,000 per semester for the first year) to incoming first-year students interested in being active and engaged in their new community and University. The course is aimed at forming a close-knit community with a diverse group of students that are intent on learning personal leadership skills that are necessary to lead them throughout their college experience and beyond.
1. Official high school transcript (including high school GPA and class rank)
2. Two 300-500 word essays:
a. Essay 1: How would you describe yourself to someone who did not know you? What are your strengths and areas of improvement?
b. Essay 2: What are the ways that leadership in high school and college can prepare you to be a contributing member of society after college?
What leadership experiences have you had or want to have that will assist you in this?
3. Professional resume (highlighting education, accomplishments, & involvement)
Sierra Jones
$4,000 ($2,000 per semester for the first year)
- 1. Minimum high school GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 85 on a 100 point scale
- 2. Located in the top 30% of high school class rank
- 3. ACT 21 (Composite) or SAT 1060 (Reading/Writing + Math)
- 4. Accepted to and intending to graduate from A&M-Commerce (or completed application and intent to attend)
- 5. Evidence of high school excellence in both leadership and academics
