School Closures

Due to the forecasted severe weather and unsafe road conditions, all GISD schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, January 9, and Friday, January 10, 2025. All GISD after-school activities scheduled for those days are also canceled. See the Weather Procedures page for more details.

Officially founded in 2015 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Team See Possibilities pursues the mission of inspiring and empowering young people with vision loss to thrive and excel. Our vision is to demonstrate to the world what a person with a visual impairment is capable of achieving, to inspire children with visual impairments and their communities around the world, and to create the next generation of vision-impaired role models through education and mentorship.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Graduating high school Senior, or be pursuing an Undergraduate or Graduate degree, or Professional Trade at a Vocational or Trade School.
  • Considered legally blind as defined in the Supplemental Security Income program, under Title XVI of the Social Security Act, which currently states:
    • "(2) An individual shall be considered to be blind for the purpose of this title if he has central visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye with the use of a correcting lens. An eye which has a limitation in the field of vision such that the widest diameter of the visual field subtends an angle no greater than 20 degrees should also be considered as having a central visual acuity of 20/200 or less."
