Attendance Awareness Month
We're celebrating Attendance Awareness Month this September! Set yourself up for success by attending school every day. Attendance Awareness Month is a national event that highlights how good attendance improves academic achievement. Our district's pledge is to create a culture of achievement for every student, every day, all year long!

Get involved
The theme for this year is “You belong here! Every moment matters.” Our schools will have fun activities and competitions for students and staff, such as:
- Aim for Perfect Attendance Contest: Students with perfect attendance from Sept. 2-30 will be entered into a district raffle for prizes and gift cards. The drawing will be held on Oct. 10.
- Campus Attendance Competition: Every school across the district will compete against its grade band to see which school has the best attendance each semester. Three campuses will be declared the "Byron Willis - APEX Champion".

Why does attendance matter?
According to research, attending school every day can:
- Promote student learning and increase the chances of graduation
- Improve mental health through socializing, developing friendships, and building empathy
- Allow for a personalized learning experience that keeps students from falling behind
- Help students stay on track and recover momentum
- Help students feel better about school and themselves
Showing up is a valuable life habit. It represents more than attendance; it's an attitude - showing up, being present, and being engaged.
