Join our Guidance and Counseling department and Sandy Hook Promise in celebrating the amazing work of educators, students, and the community in creating connected environments.
Help be a part of creating an inclusive school culture! We encourage our staff and students to be brave in connecting with their peers. A few ideas to get involved:
- meet someone new
- talk to people who are alone
- create chalk messages of hope on sidewalks and driveways
- invite someone to hang out with you and your friends
- connect with someone and post on social media
- smile, wave and be kind to others

Three steps to connectedness
- See someone alone who may be left out by others or is uncomfortable.
- Reach out and help by having the courage to talk to them.
- Start with "hello" and have a conversation!
The Start with Hello Campaign brings attention to the growing problem of loneliness and social isolation. These can lead to depression, self-harm and other negative effects like bullying and violence. Start with Hello Week encourages those environments and teach people the importance of connecting.
