Join our Guidance and Counseling department and Sandy Hook Promise in celebrating the amazing work of educators, students, and the community in creating connected environments.

Help be a part of creating an inclusive school culture! We encourage our staff and students to be brave in connecting with their peers. A few ideas to get involved:

  • meet someone new
  • talk to people who are alone
  • create chalk messages of hope on sidewalks and driveways
  • invite someone to hang out with you and your friends
  • connect with someone and post on social media
  • smile, wave and be kind to others

Let's go connect with our community. Start with hello! #StartWithHello #YouMatter #BeTheLight #TheGISDEffect

Three steps to connectedness

  1. See someone alone who may be left out by others or is uncomfortable.
  2. Reach out and help by having the courage to talk to them.
  3. Start with "hello" and have a conversation!

The Start with Hello Campaign brings attention to the growing problem of loneliness and social isolation. These can lead to depression, self-harm and other negative effects like bullying and violence.  Start with Hello Week encourages those environments and teach people the importance of connecting.
