Freeman Replacement Campus
Learn more about the Bond 2023 Freeman Elementary project.
Latest Update: Fall 2025
The former Freeman Elementary campus is one of the elementary replacement projects in Bond 2023. The students and staff from Freeman and Golden Meadows were consolidated into one school in the fall of 2024.
While the new Freeman campus is being built, students from both schools will be housed at the Golden Meadows location. During this time, the school will be named “B.H. Freeman at Golden Meadows Elementary.”
Once the new building is complete, the Golden Meadows name will be retired and the combined student body will become students at the new B.H. Freeman Elementary.
The project vision
The Freeman Elementary School project is designed with one clear focus: creating a learning environment that supports students, staff, and the community.
Guided by four key principles—community, performance, wellness, and experience—the new campus will serve as both a neighborhood anchor and a place where students thrive.

Community is at the heart of the project. The school is envisioned as a welcoming, Garland-centered space that reflects the pride and spirit of its surrounding neighborhood.
Performance goes beyond energy efficiency and building design. Thoughtful architecture will support academic success by providing flexible, collaborative spaces that enhance the student learning experience.
Wellness is woven throughout the design, from the use of natural light and healthy materials to outdoor learning and play areas that connect students with fresh air and open spaces.
Experience ensures that the school is not only safe and functional but also inspiring. Every space is designed to feel comfortable, adaptable, and engaging for students today and in the future.
A central feature of the design is “The Nest”—a secure courtyard and gathering space inspired by the school’s hawk mascot. This shared outdoor area will serve as a hub for learning, play, performances, and community activities.
As construction moves forward, Freeman Elementary is set to become more than just a building—it will be a nurturing place where students begin their educational journey, grow in confidence and knowledge, and prepare for the next steps in life.
