Griffin Elementary Project
Latest update: Fall 2025
The new Linda L. Griffin Elementary School will bring together the communities of Heather Glen and Montclair Elementary into a modern, state-of-the-art campus designed to inspire learning and honor its namesake. The school reflects guiding principles centered on creating an iconic landmark, improving traffic and site functionality, ensuring safety and security, and fostering community engagement.
The design process
The design process included extensive input from teachers, staff, administrators, and community members to merge the unique cultures of both schools. The shared Roadrunner mascot became a unifying symbol woven into the architecture and interior design.
Note: This video is an animation of the anticipated architectural design. The final building design and construction are subject to change.
The campus will feature:
108,000 sq. ft. of learning space including classrooms, science labs, a maker space, media center, and collaborative learning areas.
Outdoor amenities such as play areas for different ages, a turf soccer field, basketball court, outdoor learning gardens, and an amphitheater.
A dedicated Cultural Center for community use, reflecting Mrs. Griffin’s legacy of service and inclusivity.
Design elements inspired by local nature preserves and the Roadrunner’s vibrant feather patterns.
A Historical Archive inside the library to celebrate Mrs. Griffin’s life and contributions, centered on her motto: “Always Benefiting Children.”
