Herfurth Elementary School Named National Blue Ribbon School
Carl L. Herfurth Elementary School in Rowlett has been designated a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School.
In a momentous occasion for education in Garland ISD, Carl L. Herfurth Elementary School in Rowlett has been designated a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School. This recognition, given by the U.S. Department of Education, marks a significant achievement for the school, its staff, and the community. Herfurth Elementary is the first school in Rowlett to receive this recognition.
On Wednesday, March 20, students and staff members were welcomed on campus by a large illuminated "Congrats" sign as they walked the red carpet. DJ P-Love provided the tunes and set the tone for the exciting event as everyone made their way to the cafeteria. The Superintendent and School Board of the Garland ISD, district officials, esteemed dignitaries from Rowlett, and members of the Herfurth student body and staff attended the event.
Superintendent Dr. Ricardo López, Board President Linda Griffin, and Rowlett Mayor Blake Margolis extended heartfelt congratulations to the Herfurth community, acknowledging their dedication to academic excellence. The Herfurth Honor Choir also gave an inspiring performance for the audience.
To commemorate the recognition, the students pinned Blue Ribbon shield pins on their teachers' shirt collars, and the district surprised students and staff with special gifts, including a hat and a shirt. The campus also received a Blue Ribbon banner to display outside the school proudly.
Even with all the praise coming its way, the school remains unwavering in its commitment to fostering a nurturing environment that empowers every student to succeed.
Established in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes schools nationwide for their exemplary contributions to education. Herfurth Elementary's designation as a National Blue Ribbon School is a testament to its dedication to academic achievement and a source of pride for the entire Garland ISD community.
