Herfurth PTA was selected as one of the ten schools nationwide to pilot the National PTA's Spring 2024 Fire Safety Program, a distinction that sets them apart as the leading local PTA in the entire Dallas Metroplex. This honor reflects their exceptional PTA leadership and teamwork.

The program focuses on educating families about fire dangers, emergency preparedness, and engaging elementary-aged students and families in hands-on fire safety activities. Recently, Herfurth PTA organized the highly successful event where parents and students learned about the main causes of fires, the importance of prevention and preparation, and how to prevent fires at home.

The event featured engaging games and activities with prizes and giveaways, creating a fun and educational experience for all. It was open to all Garland ISD schools in Rowlett, TX, and featured partnerships with outstanding local vendors and organizations, including Kidde and their Cause for Alarm™, Rowlett Fire Department, Nothing Bundt Cakes Rowlett, Credit Union of Texas, The Rowlett Citizen Corps Council, Rowlett Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Rowlett Fire Corps, Explorer Post One, The (EMT) Program and the Firefighter Program at the GRCT, Rowlett Public Library, Alert-All, Rockwall Fire Protection, Rowlett Police Department, Rowlett Emergency Medical Services, and Bounce n More.

The event was a true community effort, showcasing the dedication and collaboration of Herfurth PTA, local organizations, and vendors to promote fire safety and preparedness. The success of this pilot program highlights Herfurth PTA's commitment to the safety and well-being of their students and families, setting a shining example for PTA's nationwide.
