A Garland High School student-athlete is earning recognition for making an impact both on and off the court.

Two alumni have returned to South Garland High School as Auto Tech teachers, helping students build skills and confidence through the same CTE programs that helped shape their own futures.

Sachse senior Sidney Mallari made Garland ISD history when her animated short, VALUE, competed alongside productions from around the world at DIFF.

Fifth graders from Norma Dorsey Elementary traveled to Austin on an Education in Action Discover Texas Field Trip, visiting the Texas State Capitol and the Bullock Texas State History Museum.

Fourth graders from John W. Armstrong Elementary traveled to Austin on an Education in Action Discover Texas Field Trip, to experience what they are learning in Texas History. 

Garland HS alum Sebastian Perez balanced IB coursework, student leadership roles, athletics, and service before earning one of the nation’s most competitive scholarships.

Students are turning hands-on experience at the GRCTC into internships, certifications, college pathways, and career opportunities before graduation even arrives.

One student’s creativity is now in the hands of readers across Garland.

Garland ISD has been named the 2026 H-E-B Texas District of the Year, earning one of the state’s highest honors in public education.
