GESSA will award a $1000 scholarship to one senior at every Garland ISD high school.

Applicants must turn in:

  • Completed application
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or principal of the school
  • One-page essay that includes your goals in life, future education pursuits, personal beliefs and anything you feel may be helpful to the scholarship committee.

Award information

$1,000

Scholarship recipients will receive one-half of the scholarship amount upon presentation of a paid registration receipt(s) to the GESSA Scholarship Treasurer.  The remainder of the scholarship award will be provided upon verification of completion of coursework.  If coursework does not total the amount of the scholarship in the sixteen (16) month period, the remainder of the scholarship reverts to the GESSA Scholarship Fund.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior currently enrolled in Garland ISD.
  • Applicant must plan to enroll full-time in an accredited college or university or technical institute in the state of Texas.
  • Applicant must complete required study hours within a sixteen (16) month period, beginning June 1, 2024 and ending October 1, 2025
  • Application must be signed by the applicant and the parent/guardian.
  • Application, essay, and accompanying letter of recommendation must meet the deadline.
