GISD Board calls for Nov. Prop A election

If passed, Proposition A is projected to provide about $56 million in additional funds annually for teacher and staff salaries, student programs, specialized education services and safety and security. 

This scholarship is awarded annually to a low income Black high school graduating senior who has a strong desire to attend college. This scholarship is named in honor of John Washington, the first Black Garland ISD Assistant Superintendent.

Eligibility Requirements

*Ex felon currently enrolled in formal higher education program or a certified life skills improvement program (eg., college, trades, etc.). Low Income (Qualifies for Free/Reduced Lunch) Enrollment in a minimum of six (6) credit hours Enrollment Verification Letter/Form verifying college enrollment in a State (Texas) certified vocational or technical training school or Dallas County Community college District (DCCCD)
