GISD Board calls for Nov. Prop A election

If passed, Proposition A is projected to provide about $56 million in additional funds annually for teacher and staff salaries, student programs, specialized education services and safety and security.

Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation annually sponsors 50 scholarships to further the postsecondary education of Navy dependents from the aviation community. Most scholarships are $5,000 and some are renewable.

Scholarships may be used for trade school certification, community college or four-year university/college undergraduate study and may be used for tuition only at an accredited institution.

If an applicant's tuition is fully covered by other scholarships from their institution, ROTC, or Post 9/11 Bill/Yellow Ribbon benefits, they are ineligible to receive a scholarship. Students attending service acadamies are also ineligible.

The recipient must accept the award for both fall and spring semesters.

If a recipient is planning on using Post 9/11 Benefits for one semester, then they must decline the scholarship.
