Adrian Phillips returned to familiar hallways in GISD with a mission rooted in gratitude. Through his L.A.K.E. Foundation, he hosted a small holiday party at Garland High School for 17 students, turning a December afternoon into a meaningful moment.

The number of students selected holds special meaning for Phillips. He wore No. 17 during his playing days at Garland High, and selecting 17 students was a personal nod to where his journey began. The event reflected his commitment to giving back to the campus that shaped his path.

The celebration included a holiday lunch, festive decorations, and fun giveaways. Phillips sat with students, listened to their stories, and shared some of his own. The GHS Library was full of laughter as students joined in a Saran Wrap Ball holiday game and a sports trivia Kahoot.

Once the party games wrapped up, students moved on to the highlight of the afternoon: opening their gifts. Joy filled the room as wrapping paper piled up on the floor. Students compared gifts, laughed together, and enjoyed a celebration created just for them.

Phillips and his wife, Camille, founded the L.A.K.E. Foundation in 2023 to uplift others and support students throughout the community. Their commitment was evident throughout the afternoon, both in the gifts and in the time spent connecting with each student.
