Garland ISD Board of Trustees Approved Calling for a 2023 Bond Election

At a special meeting on February 14, the Garland ISD Board of Trustees approved calling for a bond election. The Garland ISD Education Foundation has awarded 200 grants and scholarships to teachers and staff across the district, totaling $230,063. The grants and scholarships were awarded to a wide variety of educators, all of whom had submitted proposals outlining their ideas and plans for improving classroom lessons and furthering their education.

Brother Surprises Freeman Elementary Student with Holiday Homecoming
Nico Torres, a third grader at Freeman Elementary, had an unexpected visit at school. With the help of his mom, teacher, and campus principal, Nico's brother, who's in the U.S. Army, got to surprise him at school and tell him he'll be home for Christmas!

North Garland Senior Wins Big at Pep Rally
Salam El-Wakil, a Senior at North Garland High School, had the surprise of her life when College Board awarded her a $40,000 college scholarship at the school's Friday pep rally.
