Seventy-five students from Centerville Elementary School in Garland ISD were gifted shoes from the Influence International Church and Pastor Chris Hughes. 

For over 30 years, the artwork of Garland ISD students has helped ring in the holiday season. Our annual Holiday Card Contest is made possible through partnerships with campuses across the district. And this year, Fine Arts also opened the competition to our secondary campuses. We thank our wonderful schools that participated in this year's event.

Nico Torres, a third grader at Freeman Elementary, had an unexpected visit at school. With the help of his mom, teacher, and campus principal, Nico's brother, who's in the U.S. Army, got to surprise him at school and tell him he'll be home for Christmas!

Salam El-Wakil, a Senior at North Garland High School, had the surprise of her life when College Board awarded her a $40,000 college scholarship at the school's Friday pep rally.

We proudly announce that Kristina Sedberry, Sachse High School ASL teacher, won Teacher of the Year for the state of Texas from The Texas Foreign Language Association.

Parents and students across the metroplex explored Garland ISD schools on November 2 at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland at the "Explore GISD" expo.

The GISD Robotics Family Expo allows students from across the district to test drive the latest robotic technology while learning from top Texas Instrument engineers. 

GISD Campus PTA organizations have been recognized as a School of Excellence by the National PTA.

Many schools from GISD scored excellent ratings, with North Garland High School becoming the first high school in GISD history to achieve an "A" accountability rating in the STAAR era.
