    Board policy

This manual contains policies governing the operation of this our district. The policies are included because they are required by law or by the Texas Education Agency; because they are recommended by the Texas Association of School Boards as essential to effective District governance and management; or because the Board wishes to make a statement in a particular policy area.

    Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

The AUP is a set of rules that restricts the ways in which GISD technology resources may be used. This document includes a definition of what district technology resources are and what is considered acceptable use. It also discusses how system access is governed, user responsibilities, prohibited activities, and network etiquette.

    Electronic media policy

Electronic media includes all forms of social media, such as text messaging, instant messaging, electronic mail (email), Web logs (blogs), wikis, electronic forums (chat rooms), video-sharing Web sites (e.g., YouTube), editorial comments posted on the Internet, and social network sites (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram). Electronic media also includes all forms of telecommunication, such as landlines, cell phones, and Web-based applications.

    Social media guidelines

Social media serves as a powerful communication tool to engage audiences, gain insight, and share news or information. But the use of social media also presents risks and carries with it certain responsibilities—especially within education. To help employees operate professional and personal accounts appropriately, we have established these guidelines.
